Matanzas and Puertecillo, our “home base”. Matanzas is an authentic fishing village with good restaurants and a few shopping facilities. It is located on the Chilean coast, about 160 kilometers away from the capital Santiago. Surrounded by different wave spots, the village is a perfect base for wave kiters. During the Chilean holiday season (Jan-Feb) it can get busy but throughout the rest of the year the village is quiet and offers a lot of space on the beach and in the waves. Multiple spots are located around Matanzas, all of them reachable within a few minutes by car and our guides know the preferred wind and wave conditions for the different spots. The dark volcanic beaches and paltry rock formations create a wild atmosphere.
